Video: SEO vs. PPC
Web Pro News put out a video (news report) talking about the difference between SEO (Search Engine Optimization, free traffic for good rankings) and PPC (Pay Per Click, Paid Advertising, Adwords/Yahoo! Search Marketing, etc.). I know that a lot of people wonder which they should focus most of their time on. Both of them have their benefits and drawbacks, but both can play an important role in any campaign.
This report has some really good advice from Dana Todd and Jeremy Schoemaker.

Any business shoule incorporate both strategies into their online marketing campaign. The trick is finding the correct allocation of funds into the budget for each type; both should definitley be implemented though.

I agree both methods should be used for maximum gains. SEO can only target a specific number of keywords per page hence with PPC you can target the ones you cant get via SEO. SEO does have limits.

SEO for me anyday. PPC costs a lot. I use SEO in various tactics. My most success is currently coming from social bookmarking sites, although the traffic from this source does tend to be unpredictable.
I wish you the best.

I agree both should be used but if your on a budget go for the seo. Its free traffic. Good post, keep up the good work.

There is no doubt abut it. Both of them are same kind of important thing.

If you have a content-full, continously updated website, then go for SEO. If you have an ecommerce website then go for PPC. That’s a simple yet effective strategy.

No question, in regards to ROI SEO wins hands down.
[Reply]
Both methods are important. So we should use both strategies.

Really interesting post.. but i would rather choose the organic one.. co\’z more strategy and technique that you can acquire by promoting your site on the net… and not only limited to any link popularity.. while the PPC would only performs a certain period of time and wont last for long and made you any expense for just a temporary traffic. Pro organic rules.. algorithm is varying, seo trends is varying… very challenging.. Panama

SEO is the way to go for a sites longevity, however if you are just starting out and you know you have stellar content, PPC will bring in immediate visitors that may provide backlinks to you which will help your overall SERP in the future. That being said, both is really the answer, start with on-site SEO first then when you know you have that covered, start your PPC marketing and carefully watch the ROI.

Interesting post!
SEO is the way to go! But it takes time and ” a lot” of effort.
on the other hand PPC is costly but you get result ASAP
so it all depends on what the client needs are

Yes, Dan.
I watched the video and it covers the subject nicely.
Since my site is a blog, it seems that the ‘experts’ believe as I do-SEO. The ‘it takes time’ comment by Jeremy Shoemaker, of course, is apropos.

Well this quite nice video. I have few blogs which I am thinking of giving full time now. The thing is PPC is what I been thinking off but due its costs and some glitch, I was quite worry to use it. But however, PPC is better way as recommended by many experienced webmasters. So I m planning to implement it soon,
Thnks

Thanks for the links! Great read!
In my opinion, there is nothing better than search engine -traffic.

I think a well balanced combination of both is the best solution. In the long run I would bet on SEO. Results can be great if you find the right company.

Thank you! I feel like I have learned so much from the video. Thanks for sharing.

There both equally important. It takes time to rank for seo, but you need ppc so that you can figure out what terms convert the best. I don’t know of any good way to not have both SEO & PPC in any campaign.

It’s true that they both really do have their place. They should both be part of your overall strategy.

I have been spending loads of money on PPC as my SEO efforts have not given me any results. Surely a mix is good but I supose its well worth the effort to spend some money on professional SEO

I agree that a mix is good since you really have to use the two techniques very differently. If all you do is SEO you may be somewhat disappointed. PPC can be more targeted and you can target more phrases. But then you also can’t deny the allure of free traffic with SEO! I know people that make a lot of money with both!

A mix is good but I spend more on regular seo. On a long term basis this will surely save you some money.

I do the same. I look at PPC as a short term solution but SEO as the long term.
[Reply]
Yeah regular seo is the best choice. Costs some initial startup money but it’s worth it for sure.

Nice video link thanks for shared this, its clearly helps me to identify the
deference between seo and PPC,
[Reply]
Even though it usually takes longer, I would side with SEO.
PPC, depending on your market, can become insanely expensive and if those clicks don’t get converted into sales you have essentially just thrown your money out the window. In my opinion it is better to invest the money getting yourself a more permanent source of visitors by getting ranked high in the search engines.

Leif

SEO On-page optimization refers to factors that have an effect on your Web site or Web page listing in natural search results… These factors are controlled by you or by coding on your page… In Pay per Click you set the price you’re willing to pay for each sales lead and pay only when customers click through to your site, leading to a high return on your investment (ROI)….
[Reply]
SEO and PPC both should co-exists in marketing campaign instead of Either-Or… I always lean towards seo over ppc… SEO is a much better investment of time as it will pay off in the future and continue to make you money, whereas ppc will always cost you money(while making some), and requires more work to constantly update your campaigns…
