How to Keep Yourself Motivated in Your Online Business
I don’t know what it is, but it seems that for some reason a lot of people that decide to start an online business forget the fact that they’re starting a business. I don’t know if it’s just the employee mentality that a lot of us have been trained to have or what, but in order to be successful in any business venture you have to remember that it is a business. Therefore, your mentality has to be different than the one you have when you go and work your regular job.
For example, if you put in time on the job you get paid for your work. But in a new internet business you could build links to increase your rankings for a whole week (or more 
) and not see a whole lot from it immediately. I think one of the key differences is the concept of instant gratification versus delayed gratification. On the job things are more immediate, but in a business things can be delayed.
Does that de-motivate you? I sure hope not! We just have to be able to look at the bigger picture and see where we are going. Personally I keep looking at the small successes, realizing that a bunch of small successes are what ads up to bigger success. It’s like taking small baby steps towards the goal, then at some point you look back and really realize how far you’ve actually come.
Is it always going to be easy? Probably not. Is it going to be worth it? Well, honestly, in the end that depends on you. Are you going to make it so it’s worth it? Find a way to keep yourself motivated. Find a way to keep moving forward and don’t give up on what you’re trying to accomplish by starting your new online business.

The way I look at it is that if you enjoy the journey then you’re much more likely to actually make it to the goal. If you’re only motivation is “I have to make money NOW or I’m toast”, then you’re thinking more of a job mentality. Work an hour, get paid for an hour. I’m glad you’re enjoying the journey. Keep working at it and eventually things should work out for you!

You have some great points here Dan. For me it’s all about the journey. I like to focus on what I’ve learned and what I can do with that knowledge in the future. I believe that most people that reach the elite level of their industries simply won’t quit.
If I stopped working on my online business now it would be such a waste. I’ve learned a lot over the last few years and the last thing I want to do is throw it away. Focusing on what I’ve learned helps me to keep on keepin’ on.
