Great Yahoo! Ranking!

I was thinking today that it might be a good idea if from time to time I post a little bit about some of the little successes that I have so you can see that I actually do these things that I’m talking about.

Go figure, this link building stuff actually works!

Ok, a lot of you already know that I have a site called FuelAdditiveStore. I launched that site in April or so, and have been spending most of my time working on link building with the phrases ‘fuel additive’ and ‘diesel fuel additive’. Well, the good news is that as of this writing I am ranked number 3 on Yahoo! for the term ‘fuel additive’! Not bad eh? For ‘diesel fuel additive’ I am gradually moving up the ranks, currently number 15. I’m hoping that one picks up soon as well.

Now you may be wondering “well what about Google?!” Well, apparently the verdict is still out on that one. I know I’m not on the first couple of pages yet. The interesting thing is that it seems that every time I start working on a new phrase or website, Yahoo! and/or MSN always gives me better rankings before I get them on Google. For example, I was on the first page for the phrase ‘lifetime fitness’ for a long time with MSN before I got a similar ranking on Google. Its just the nature of the beast. Moral of the story: don’t expect to always have similar rankings on different search engines!

Maybe it’s because each search engine uses a different algorithm.
