Common Acronyms You Should Know
As you all know, in the online world we use a lot of acronyms to say things that would other wise take a lot longer to say. I’m not talking about things they use in instant messages (IM) like LOL (laugh out loud) and ROTFL (rolling on the floor laughing), but more important acronyms that are specifically associated with online marketing. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but these are at least some of the basics that you should know and be familiar with when you see them:
CPC - Cost Per Click
CPL - Cost Per Lead
CPM - Cost Per Thousand
CPS - Cost Per Sale
CTR - Click Through Rate
ECPM - Effective Cost Per Thousand
EPC - Earnings Per Click
FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
ISP - Internet Service Provider
PPC - Pay Per Click
PR - Page Rank (Google’s Measure of the importance of a page)
ROI - Return on Investment
RSS - Really Simple Syndication
SEM - Search Engine Marketing
SEO - Search Engine Optimization
SERPs - Search Engine Results Pages
SE - Search Engine
SMO - Social Media Optimization
URL - Uniform Resource Locator (Website Address)
